ABOUT THE ROLE
Review, analyze, evaluate, and provide technical support for business systems and user needs of complex applications and projects.
50% of The Business Analyst’s responsibilities are as follows:
• Construct and follow prescribed project methodologies and processes, adhering to strict deadlines, and work closely with customers and stakeholders to understand current and preferred business needs, process flows, and requirements, as well as how information flows and changes throughout the business. Utilize this information to assist in the design of the optimal business solution and work closely with the IT development team through implementation.
• Facilitate and support client’s IT projects and initiatives by gaining a detailed understanding of Technology and its use, writing business requirements, risks, and use/test cases.
• Gain a thorough knowledge of department responsibilities, goals, and operating standards and a sound understanding of the operating procedures and constraints of IT, business departments, and vendors with which the unit may interact.
• Elicit and document business requirements, business processes and flows, and user system requirements. Track requirements through all stages of the project lifecycle, ensuring traceability.
• Conceptualize immediate and long-range needs for small to mid-size projects, translate those needs into an effective project plan, and negotiate project objectives and direction with key stakeholders and executives. May serve as a project lead and make presentations regarding project direction and recommendations as appropriate.
• Review impacted business processes and work with stakeholders to identify and make business process improvements that result in cost savings, higher quality, increased efficiencies, lower risk, and shorter cycle times.
• Actively engage stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle to facilitate participation through discovery and execution.
• Coordinate and facilitate User Acceptance Testing by assisting in developing test cases and scripts and monitoring test plans’ execution.
• Provide planning, status updates, document control, and other general project support to the Project Management leaders.
• Apply industry knowledge and standards and execute workflows and systems changes while assessing current solutions gaps.
• Effectively maintain and build relationships across various work groups.
• Document and update user manuals and training guides to be used by a diverse audience and perform training as necessary.
40% of The Business Analyst’s responsibilities are as follows:
• Apply in-depth knowledge of process improvement methodologies and principles to drive strategic goals, objectives, and business results. Analyze data to find opportunities and suggest ways to improve existing processes.
• Lead assessment, deep-dive/design, and pilot activities for functions of client’s IT systems. Conducts studies, such as time studies or process studies, to review the effectiveness of current processes, analyze the effectiveness of tools and parts, and make suggestions to improve.
• Set direction for process improvement/redesign projects.
• Participate in the development, maintenance, and consistent application of standard processes across areas of responsibility.
• Communicate results for complex business issues and risks and recommend viable solutions and alternatives.
• Provide coaching and training to develop and sustain process improvement principles.
• Participate in the assessment, deep-dive/design, and pilot activities for functions of new and existing business processes.
• Serve as a team member on process improvement/redesign projects.
• Manage and assist with communication tactics and training curriculums to facilitate changes in business policy, procedures, and system implementations.
• Evaluate performance against established metrics to determine acceptable levels of quality or efficiency for various business functions and units.
• Train users on new or modified business processes.
5% of The Business Analyst’s responsibilities are as follows:
• Keep current with the latest project management practices, including waterfall and agile.

• Assist in duties assigned by the Director of Project Management or the Chief Information Officer.
