A mastery of Transact SQL, T-SQL Stored Procedures, and a working knowledge of PL-SQL
A mastery of MS-Access and Visual Basic for the creation of rapid prototypes with at least three years of relevant experience
Rapid application prototyping using MS-Access, Visual Basic, and the .NET Framework
Demonstrated relationship management skills

Working knowledge or BRIO, MicroStrategy, COGNOS, or other OLAP tools
Working knowledge of data mining practices and statistical inference

Application of Technical Skills:

This contractor will (primarily) support the IT Analysis and Metrics team by modeling the data from several financial applications. Instantiating these models, developing the transformation and load jobs, and developing processes to ensure data quality will be the next steps.
The modeler will create any user interfaces needed to create or maintain dimension tables, system “driver” tables, or others as needed.
The modeler will use MS-Access 2003 to prototype and create custom GUIs in an Agile project environment.
The modeler will meet with management to provide project statuses and offer opportunities for project performance enhancement.

Day-to-Day Tasks:

Using ERWin or MS-SQL-Server Utilities, model data for storage in an analytical data mart
Using MS-SQL-Server, create entities, attributes, and relationships to persist data.
Using MS-SQL-Server Tools, create load jobs, T-SQL code, and other tasks to ensure database performance and quality.
Work directly with customers to prototype SQL-Server GUIs to instances modeled and created.
Interface with support staff to promote data model changes to production
Document the data model and the lineage of the data

Most Technically Challenging Task:

Creation of a (relatively flat) data store sourced from a highly normalized, object oriented instance.
Ensuring that reporting off of the data mart is as easy as possible will be challenging.
Assisting with rapidly changing user requirements in the GUI design will be challenging.
Developing a high level vision of the project and the post-implementation world will be difficult.

Evaluation Matrix:
Skill                                                          Weight
SQL-Server / T-SQL / DTS                             40
MS-Access VBA and Visual Basic                     20
Data Modeling - Physical / Logical                  25
BRIO / MicroStrategy / COGNOS / OLAP          10
DTS / Abinitio / Informatica / Generic ETL         5

Please note that the evaluation matrix is provided to convey the relative importance of the criteria.
Additional criteria may be added or criteria may be deleted as needed to effectively and uniformly assess the pool of candidates.
Some of the criteria are gating, or minimum criteria, and not all candidates may clear the gates.
